There is something whimsical about patterns that flood you with a sense of calm and tranquillity. The essence of Organic Symmetry is inspired by the love for natural geometry, the quintessential Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi and the Shibori, a Japanese resist dyeing technique. From craft kits to handmade scarves, Organic Symmetry’s products each have a unique soul of their own.

Instead of treating cloth as a two-dimensional surface, with Shibori, it is given a three-dimensional form by folding, crumpling, stitching, plaiting, or plucking and twisting. The results are distinctive symmetrical patterns that cannot be easily replicated. The mere process of revealing the scarves post dyeing is a magical experience as the patterns are often a pleasant surprise. The dyes used are low-impact, thus making it eco-friendly.

The products build a personal connection by being holistically handmade which gives each product its own character. It is unique in its irregularity and imperfections. In the era of machine-made mass productions striving to achieve perfection, Organic Symmetry’s offerings are defined by their solitary personality.

Founded by Anisha Khiyani, Organic Symmetry is an individual/collaborative platform that gives visual and tactile form to people’s stories and experiences.
